So, we've been playing with plans for the wedding. My dad finally came through and got us a cabin right on the coast of Maine for our wedding and reception. I haven't seen it yet, but I'm very excited. Just about perfectly midpoint between the Cape and Potato Country. Do you hear angels?
With that in mind, I'm starting to plan again. I was hopeless, and then I was Vegas. Vegas was easy, but this is easy, and fun again.
My cubie, Dave, asked me the other day if I ever knit on commission. I told him I don't knit for money, but I'd trade for it. He asked me if I had anything going right now, and I told him that I was working on two sweaters for Christmas. He nodded, understood, and asked if I could make him a sweater for a late Christmas present then. He'd buy the yarn, and I could think about what would make a suitable trade.
A little while later it dawned on me that Dave is a professional photographer. I told him that I'd buy the yarn, I'd even have the sweater done for Christmas, if he'd photograph my wedding. He told me he'd think about it.
I brought in patterns. I showed him sweaters. He took one design that he liked and slyly asked the intended recipient of the sweater what she thought of it. She really liked it.
Not only will he photograph the wedding, he'll give me the RAW images right off the memory card. No licensing, no copy write.
I'm shopping for yarn, yarn that will make the angels weeps. The chosen sweater is this one. And he seems to like that color. I'll start scouring yarndex, and then my Patternworks and Webs catalog. It calls for cotton, but I want the memory of wool.
But first, I have to go get my canner, UPS called me, it's in!

That is an awesome trade! Yay, for you! He must really care about whoever's getting that sweater.

What a gret deal! It will be a lot of work, but how wonderful? The sweater is lovely (and I'm with ya on the wool.) What gauge does the pattern suggest? And congrats on the Maine wedding site! I LOVE Maine. What town is it in? ~h

Woo-hoo, your luck is finally changing. How about Karabella Aurora 8 for the yarn...it's superwash merino wool and beautifully soft and like heaven to knit with. There's also 2 other weights of this yarn, depending on your sweater pattern...either a lighter weight or a bulkier. Or....Mission Falls 1824 wool?
