In fact, I'm just about done my first Anemoi mitten. It's been a fits and starts thing. I really want something mindless. I think I'll have a helmet liner by Wednesday. I haven't started it yet, but I want something that I can knit the way you chug a big glass of water when you're thirsty.
Soap's been good to me. My manicurist asked me if I'd like to sell soap at her store. Boy, would I? Yeah. I would. So.
Step one. I'm gonna get me some small business insurance. I'm not so worried about the loss of property, as the liability charges that you hear horror stories about. Yes, it's another expense, but if I can't afford insurance, I sure as hell can't afford a lawsuit. A lawsuit over what, you ask? Take your pick, things can get silly, and if my consumer base is expanding, then the risks are, as well.
Step two. I've got to get me some of those muslin bags. I just think they look prettier.
Step three. I need a new label that will list the ingredients. Reducing the risk of step 1. Probably just a folded label. Logo on the front (logo, still need a logo. Will probably just go with the name, for now) blurb and flavor on the inside, ingredients on the back.
Step four. Get paycheck. I had a half-assed paycheck from my last job, and the paycheck for my new job will hold a week back. I've got to be such a good girl, it's not funny. I need more fat, those bags, and while I don't need new scents, I want them awful bad...
So yes, about the new job... I love it here. Everyone has a better attitude about where they work, there is more of a team attitude, when you get out of work you actually want to hang out with the people you work with. It's close enough to everything to get stuff done on you ONE HOUR lunch break. It comes with a gym membership (good bye 10 pounds that I put on sitting next to the lady with the candy dish). They've got toilet seats in the bathroom. ...I kid. But the last place really did suck.
Yes, I hear someone out there going "but you knit at work!". Yes, I did, and it saved lives. In fact, when clearing my work station I found, ahem, bits of pink Baby Ull left from a pair of Breast Cancer socks, green Nashua worsted from a pair of mittens for my gram, Snap Dragon Knitpicks self patterning left from a pair of jaywalkers, Louisa Harding from my sister's sweater, yarn from the photography sweater, and some redheart that I was playing with. I thought of leaving it all there, but I figured the find and the sentiment behind it would be wasted on everyone there.
And I knit at the new place. Yes, there are knitters here. And we can kinda pick our lunches, so we even get to knit together. It's helps me fill up the WHOLE HOUR(!!!) lunch.
So yes, life is good in Ericka land. I'm going to crank out of L/E soap tomorrow, up the batch by 15% and fill up my cute little silicon ice cube trays, bag the resulting heart-shaped soaps up delicately, and print out tags for Heather and I. We pimp hard, look for us at SPA.

Congrats! That sounds like a great place to work. And double congrats on having a place to sell your soaps!
