Well, travel was good, I'm home, and my cats are just glad to see me. On the way down my connecting flight was canceled and my luggage was lost. We won't name the airline. I'm sure they have good days, I wish I had witnessed one of them. Friday, due to the snow, we had to stay in North Carolina. Sunday my connecting flight was delayed (our flight attendant's previous flight had been delayed) and... they lost my luggage.
But I'm done traveling for the foreseeable future. And the weekend stuck down south wasn't horrible. I got in a little retail therapy (Gina and Jackie will be so jealous) and had lunch at the Cheesecake Factory. I got a final fix of FoodTV, and they spoiled me by putting me in a suite. I ran across a shop called Bath Junkie, and I totally want to buy a franchise.
So, after a long weekend away from home, that shouldn't be away from home, and waking up at 4am, and sitting in Philly for a few extra hours... what would you do? I went shopping for a wedding dress! Wedding dress shopping was all in the plan when I was supposed to be back on Friday, and who are we to stop when I was supposed to be getting home before lunch on Sunday?
So I went with my sister, Chris's mother, and Chris. Gasp away. Chris is my best friend. I enjoy his company and I trust his opinion more than any other. It's bad luck to see the bride before the wedding, so we'll sleep in different beds the night before. No where does it say anything about the dress. I swear, all I hear is a bunch of hens clucking. Anyway, I found my dress. It's perfect and I'm debating blogging pictures of it. A few considerations: it's sleeveless and the yarn I got for the shrug looks dingy next to the ivory. I didn't want to buy the veil they had, as they were asking far too much for it. I can get some tulle and ribbon and have at it. But I did get the tiara, and a nice, poofy slip. And shoes that no one will ever see :D psst
OK, long week and travel and wedding dress... oh! Secret Pal 10! I can't say anything about my pal to spoil except that I think they are one of the most fascinating people I have met in a while. And my Secret Pal just popped up on the radar, and I can't wait to get to know her! I feel really, really good about this round.
And... I had stuff to blog, I promise. In fact, I made an outline, which I left at work. And I'm sleepy. Really sleepy. I slept 14 hours last night, but I must have a hole in this thing, because it all drained out. Let me think, travel sucked, wedding dress, secret pal, what am I missing? Oh, maybe the fact that I feel oddly drawn to the Granny along. Yeah, that's got to be it.

Oh. My. Gawd. That dress!! It is so perfect.

OOO Beautiful Dress! As for Chris seeing it...whatever! Brent saw mine before the wedding...well it was the same day as the wedding. We took all our wedding photos before the ceremony so after the ceremony we could get right on to the FOOD! HAHA! I got a little flack for it from some but my comment to them was "Who's wedding is this??" And if it's bad luck, then I'll take it..we've been married under bad luck for almost 12 wonderful years!! :) I always hate going to weddings and waiting two hours for the photos to be over so we can eat. Yeah..I know sounds a little selfish, but we all have our quirks.
I'm upset about SP10. I sent in my info, posted my questionnaire, and in return got no response, my name is not on the participants list. I've emailed the moderators twice now. Once last week, and once this morning.

omgomgomg...awesome dress! and you ARE going w/ the red trim, aren't you?? I'd love to know who the pal is, if you wanna sneak an e-mail -- I am now intrigued. Haven't gotten my matches yet. My poor hostess has been ill w/ the norovirus. :(

OMG - I absolutely LOVE that dress! Did you go all ivory or pick a trim color? I LOVE the style with the trim colors (coming from someone who'll never walk an aisle in an all white dress to begin with - after 12 years, I'm at the "vegas chapel" point anyway, lol)!!!!!

That dress is to DIE for!!! Perfect for you, Ericka...that red! I cannot wait to see what you got from your "retail therapy"...come on...tell me...is it PINK???? Bath Junkie sounds excellent...I bet they had the best lotions and such.

So good to see you back in blogland - we missed you at group last week!
Love the dress! As for bad luck for seeing the bride before wedding, sleeping in separate beds, blah blah... its nonsense. My husband and I slept in the same bed the night before our wedding and its been 9 years... Good for you for doing what you want to do!
I hope you're bringing soap tomorrow night? You know my flavors! (If you're not bringing it, no problem, just after your next batch, ok?) :-)

What a beautiful dress! I love it! My sister had a similar one from David's, she was a princess. Can't wait to hear more details!
