Great Start to my New Year...

I didn't make very many resolutions that I remember.  Resolutions aren't my thing.  I believe that self improvement is a constant process.  But some things need a start, and why not my blogging resolution?

I can't remember how exactly it was worded.  I resolve to write it down next time.  It pretty much came down to blog more.  Now you know me, I don't like blogging if there is nothing to blog about.  However, I very rarely have a lack of things to blog about.  I just don't have the energy, or I have too much, or I can't find the camera.  Anyway.  Blog more.

This blog post is going to be a two parter.  First, I will introduce my "a-long" for this year.  It's Ravelry centered (seriously, why aren't you there yet?), but I imagine there is a Flickr group.  It's the ABC Along.  There are 52 weeks in the year, and when you divide that by two you get 26, and there are 26 letters in the alphabet (stick around, the magic only gets more amazing).  So the gist of it is, every 2 weeks gets a letter.  This block is "A".  I have to post an "A" picture.  It doesn't not have to be knitting or fiber related, but I'll warn you, it just might be.  I don't imagine this audience will give me any fuss over this.

Part 2, Christmas.

Seriously, I couldn't post about Christmas two weeks ago!  Everyone was posting about Christmas!

Ok, that's not exactly why.  But that's all the concession you will receive from me on this matter.

We did have a white Christmas.

Now everything is wet and brown.  In fact, the weather has been so unseasonable that a skunk in my neighborhood has come out of hibernation.  Ask me how I know.

Christmas was wonderful.  Family and friends were beyond thoughtful.  We were a little pinched in the money department.  I won't lie.  When one thing goes wrong, it all goes wrong.  And Chris and I are born in November and December, respectively, so car stuff, on top of a new set of tires for me.  Yeah, a good sense of humor got us through to the other side.  We're almost there.

So Christmas was humbling, and warming.  The day after getting back from Maine (where we visited my family and ran into Franklin) we got a package from Somebunny's Love.

Kimberly, that package was just a wonderful thing to come home to.  Inside were also two gifts of yarn.  A beautiful teal green sock yarn for Chris (unless I decided I wanted it, per Kimberly, because that's just the way married life goes), and a lovely red kid mohair for me, which may grow up to be Ice Queen.  Thank you so much, Kimberly.  That ornament will be on our tree as long as we have a tree.

And that won't be the only thing.  At our knitting Christmas party, which took place a week after Christmas thanks to our spasmodic weather patterns, Lora came up to us, loudly announced that Sonya wanted her to give us something discreetly.  Yeah, Sonya, on that whole discreet thing, you really picked the wrong agent.  Figured you knew her better than that ;)

What was it?  I'm thinking she saw the wedding pictures.

Are those not the best?  I really can't explain the rubber ducky thing, people.  I've always loved them.  And now they will be on my Christmas tree, forever more.  The tree was down already at this point (Bah!  Humbug!) so Chris got a nice picture of them on the fresh snow.  Now they are packed away, safely awaiting next Christmas.

And there it is.  Could this be the first in a long line of better posting habits?  Maybe not, but it could be.  I leave you now, to go play video games.  Later this week I will have wonderful knitting to post.  I promise.

I'm having trouble working up a good blog too - maybe later today after taking a few pictures. Been working on the craproom, so another step of the 12-step program needs to be discussed.

Your "A" picture is fabulous - love the hat - I just finished one myself, how conincidental - then I was admiring your gorgeous ornament - and realized I just sold some yarn to Kimberly - okay, this world is small! Happy '08 by the way!:)
